Well that went well, it's now a year on and not even one attempt at trying to blog. Last year was a good year for me. No more cancer treatment and luckily so far no recurrence, all is good in the world of cancer for me at the moment at least. I have slotted back into work and am managing to keep up with everything since having my work load decreased. I am even starting to explore the new accounting package that we have in order to understand it a bit better, it's fun when I get the chance.
My husband who went back to uni in 2015 to get his teaching degree at the age of 54 has had great success with CRT work last year. Unfortunately he still hasn't managed to get a 'permanent' role but he has some wonderful references and has secured a position close to home for the first term of 2017. It makes a big difference to the holiday break knowing that there will be the extra money coming in in the New Year.
Last year I dabbled in some different things and this year I want to take it further. I started making my own yoghurt and ricotta, yummy and easy and I tried my hand at some card making. I love it and find it relaxing although I am not very imaginative or crafty so my cards tend to be simple, another thing I aim to work on this year. I was lucky enough to have a heap of card making supplies and equipment gifted to me and that has been a great help. I continued to make my own soap and tried my hand at some different colours and scents. It wasn't overly successful but I shall try again and I do like the new recipe which includes palm oil (sustainable) so not as gluggy as the recipe I have used up to now.
So all up a good year and high hopes for an even better one as my energy returns and I become more confident.
Cheerio for now and hopefully it won't be another year before I blog.

New Beginnings
Welcome to my new blog. This blog will be full of my musings, what makes me tick, what I am doing with myself and generally just a place where I can come to yak at no one in particular but keep myself amused for a while. I'd like to think that some of the things you see here will either motivate you to try new things, teach you something or just entertain you.
I'm not quite sure where the blog will go at the moment so I will start off by introducing myself. I am 54 years old, married with a 31 year old son. I live on the outskirts of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and work full time in an office doing accounts. The last six years have seen my health go up and down and last year was a particularly bad year with my second diagnosis of cancer and ensuing treatment. The treatment is over now and I just want to move on with my life and enjoy myself. Being sick and not working gives one a lot of time to think about things, usually quite depressing stuff and I have come out determined to just be happy. Unfortunately I have to work but luckily I do enjoy accounts work.
On the home scene I am trying to get back into a simpler life without the stresses of consumerism and keeping up with the Jones. I don't like what the human race are doing to this beautiful planet that we have been fortunate enough to be given the honour of being custodian to. Greed and just general thoughtlessness seem to be routine these days and I would love for people to start thinking more about what they do and the consequences it can have. Empathy towards our fellow man seems to be at an all time low and that saddens and concerns me too. I can't change the world but I can change my own thoughts and habits.
I think I shall just let you learn the rest about me by reading my blog so please come back soon and see what I have been up to.
Until next time....... cheerio
